Fri 5th May 2017 - Update: Domino’s Pizza Poland trading, Revolution and Palmers appointments
Domino’s Pizza Poland reports like-for-like system sales increase 21% in first quarter: Domino’s Pizza Poland has reported 21% like-for-like growth in system sales in the first quarter of 2017. The company has opened eight stores so far this year. It now has 43 stores in 16 towns and cities with a pipeline of more store openings for 2017 and 2018. There is also a new commissary under construction. Domino’s Pizza Poland chief executive Peter Shaw said: “2017 has started positively with 21% like-for-like system sales growth in the first quarter. We have opened eight stores to date in 2017, an unprecedented number in just over four months. We are continuing to identify a strong pipeline of store locations for further openings in 2017 and into 2018.”

Revolution Bars Group appoints former Intertain CFO as interim finance director: Revolution Bars Group, the operator of 66 premium bars across the UK under the Revolution and Revolución de Cuba brands, has appointed former Intertain chief financial officer Mike Foster as interim finance director. Foster will work with the company while the search for a permanent replacement continues after Chris Chambers resigned in February. Chambers, who will step down from the board tomorrow (Saturday, 6 May), joined Revolution Bars Group in August, replacing Sean Curran. Revolutions Bars Group stated: “Mike has hands-on financial reporting and commercial management experience gained in senior positions in large multi-site retail and leisure businesses, including the past 20 years in major pub and bar companies. Most recently, he was chief financial officer of Intertain (operator of Australia bar brand Walkabout) from 2009 until December 2016 when it was sold to Stonegate Pub Company. Prior to that, he was chief financial officer of Regent Inns from 2005 and held a number of senior accounting roles at Spirit Group (formerly with Scottish & Newcastle Retail), Esporta and First Leisure Corporation.”

Palmers Brewery appoints new tenanted trade director: West Dorset-based brewery and pub company Palmers has appointed Jim Jones as tenanted trade director. Jones, who will join the company in August having previous worked for the Metropolitan Pub Company, will be responsible for Palmers’ 54 pubs and inns. Palmers chairman and managing director John Palmer said: “I am delighted to welcome Jim to Palmers. He joins us at a very exciting time in the company’s history. Our pubs are thriving, we have several landmark projects that are due to commence in the next 12 months, and we look forward to Jim bringing his wealth of experience in developing high-end volume food pubs to the business.” Palmers operate traditional tenancies across west Dorset, south Somerset and east Devon. It said its pubs have consistently outperformed the market growing at more than 8% each year since 2013.
